With the multifold increase of Ethereum in crypto wallets, a reasonable question arises — what are investors waiting for? After all, over the past 11 months the amount of the cryptocurrency Ethereum on the addresses of large holders of digital money has increased by 80%, and since January 2017 it has quadrupled. And throughout 2018 the amount of Ethereum on the addresses of actively trading large investors increased by 80%.
Specialists analyzed more than 5,200 Ethereum wallets and found that the "whales" now own more than 20 million coins ($2.2 million), which is approximately 20% of the entire issuance. At the beginning of last year they owned 5 million ETH, four times less than now. Experts explained this dynamic by the collapse of the market — many altcoins are traded in pairs with ether, so investors exit precisely into this asset. In November 2018, traders withdrew $470 thousand into Ethereum, and the total amount of deposits exceeded 16 million ETH — $1.8 billion. At the same time, the number of "Ethereum whales" decreased by 30% in January. This indicates that the cryptocurrency is now concentrated in an even narrower group of investors.
